      Capt. Ritts Dies Five Days After Boat "Retires"

      Only five days after a steamboat W. P. Snyder Jr. which he had piloted went into "retirement" as a museum exhibit in Marietta, Ohio. Capt. Charles E. Ritts Sr., retired superintendent of river transportation for the Crucible Steel Co. of America, died in St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh. Captain Ritts, widely known in Pittsburgh district river circles, died Wednesday after a lengthy illness.
      He lived in Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh.
      His son, Charles E. Ritts Jr., a professional photographer in Pittsburgh, served as ship's photographer aboard the W P Snyder Jr., on its last cruise down the Monogahela and Ohio Rivers.
      Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm in the William slater and Sons Funeral Home, Mt. Washington.
