      Barnard Ritts, of Lima, and Miss Annie E. Martin, of this city, were married at the home of the bride's parents on Corwin street yesterday morning by Rev. J. Nelson Lewis. They left in the evening for Lima, their future home.

      Married right after her seventeenth birthday. Raised her younger brothers like she was their mother.

      Worked in a restaurant in Oklahoma.

      Overweight and high strung. Lived with Thelma and Walter in Chester. Was the kitchen queen and a great cook. Wouldn't let Thelma do much in the kitchen (two's a crowd), which caused Thelma to have to learn to cook after she died.

      Did a lot of sewing, embriodery, and quilt making.

      Quote from a notebook in Irene's hand:

      "Oct 28 - 1904 Friday
      John got to Louisburg, Kansas at 2:30 on Friday.
      Oct 29 - Sat.
      Becky, Dad, John & I drove to Paola, Kansas 16 miles in buggy. Dad went in court house with John because I was only 17 yrs old but my age & John's both was given as 21 years.
      Oct 30 Sunday
      John & I went to Mr Stickles the Pres minister's house to be married. Becky & Dad went along . stayed all nite at hotel.

      left in afternoon for Sparta left on a mixed train freight with passenger coach. spent half of night in depot at Sedalia depot.
      Nov 1 Tue
      arrived in Sparta acomadation train about 7 pm. came to John's home. Elenora Lohrberg & Sophie Koch of Red Bud were here . was I a Happy Blushing Bride I'll say.

      Bought a Boquet of Daliahs to take out to my sweethearts grave this date being our 29th wedding date. have had the blues for past few days just thinking of how happy I was 29 yrs ago & how sad now but so glad we had lived such a happy wedded life. Thelma Louise & I drove to E. St L. to see P.O.P parade saw May a little while. "
