William resided in Ipswich, Ma. and was a member of the First Church of Christ (Congregational) and a freeman in 1641/2. He was given commonage, with pasturage for one cow, and a share in Plum Island. On Dec. 12 1643, he conveyed to Edward Bragg of Ipswich a house and lot which he had purchased of John Andrews. He died in 1655, his estate being inventoried July 17 and estimated at L37-2-1. His debts amounted to L27-14-1. If his widow's name was Ann Elizabeth she must have been living in 1668.

William, his brothers John and Thomas and sisters Agnes and Dorothy are all beneficiaries in the Will of their kinsman Ralph Knolton.

      Immigration: About 1641
      Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA
It is not known if William immigrated with his brother John in 1638-39 but he was certainly there by 1641 as his name appears on a list of commoners in early 1642.

      Marriage: About 1641
      Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, USA
The identity of William's wife Elizabeth is unknown. The assertion that her family name was "Balch" has been disproven. Their marriage probably took place in Ipswich but could have taken place in England before they immigrated to Massachusetts.
